SCHOOL FOOD

Sustainable and resilient construction, inclusive and adapted management of school kitchens in Mozambique!

SECTOR:
Education.

EXPECTED DURATION:
18 months.

WHAT WE WANT?
Establish a network between entities involved in school feeding to exchange experiences and define models for the construction and maintenance of school kitchens;
Train teaching and non-teaching staff in food and nutrition;
Promote the construction and maintenance of school gardens;
Build a model school kitchen that incorporates defined and shared good practices.

MAIN ACTIVITIES:
Mapping of school kitchens and management and maintenance practices;
Definition of criteria for sustainable and resilient construction, inclusive and adapted management of school kitchens;
Creation and elaboration of content for food and nutrition education, and for hygiene and food safety Training of kitchen and school garden teams;
Faculty training and Community awareness Seminar to present project results;
Implementation of indicators according to Mozambican Government platforms, their monitoring, and training of PRONAE technicians;
Construction of a school kitchen.

In addition to the distribution of meals, hygiene, vaccination and deworming campaigns are carried out. This is an APOIAR program that exists so that 23 million African children stop going to primary school hungry. Every day we work so that more and more children have access to daily meals, as we know that if they are well nourished, they will be healthier, attend more often and do better at school. We believe that this is a fundamental way to combat the cycle of absolute poverty.
