» UNGUMI - after Idai

UNGUMI

Last March 2019, cyclone Idai hit Mozambique, namely the Sofala area where we operate.
The scale of the catastrophe affected more than 1 million people, destroying homes, schools and taking with them the few assets that families had. Food insecurity and health conditions of the population worsened.

In partnership with "Médicos do Mundo", and with the LVida Foundation, APOIAR is now implementing the UNGUMI project, selected by the Financing Mechanism to Support the Recovery and Reconstruction of Mozambique through Camões, I.P., in Sofala.

The objective of this project is to promote the health of the inhabitants of rural communities in the Dondo-Savane corridor, affected by Cyclone Idai, strengthening their resilience. On the ground, the work focuses on two axes:
1. Improvement of conditions and nutritional health status;
2. Sustained access to adequate hygiene and sanitation.
