Conference "Hunger" Brought Together Experts at ISCTE

From april 1, 2025:

On March 27, APOIAR organized the conference "Hunger" at ISCTE in Lisbon—an event that gathered experts to discuss one of today’s most pressing issues: the paradox between hunger and food production and consumption systems.

Held as part of APOIAR’s 30th-anniversary celebrations, the event aimed to foster debate on the economic, social, and public health consequences of food insecurity while exploring solutions for a more equitable food system.

The conference addressed key topics such as Hunger in Economics, Health, and Education and Agriculture and AI Technologies – The Future of Combating Hunger.

Attendees also heard powerful testimonials about APOIAR’s impact over three decades. A special highlight was an interview with Helena Ribeiro Telles, conducted by journalist Júlia Palha, offering an emotional and inspiring conversation with the President of APOIAR. Helena Ribeiro Telles shared the organization’s challenges, achievements, and vision for the future, leaving a message of hope and commitment in the fight against hunger.

Beyond the panel discussions, the conference also featured cultural moments, including a live artistic performance by painter Carlos Farinha, the premiere of APOIAR’s official film, and the debut of its anthem, composed by musician Olavo Billac.

With this initiative, APOIAR reaffirmed its commitment to bridging the gap between hunger and food production and consumption systems, inviting reflection and action on a global issue that demands urgent solutions.
